SickSense-Fools Tomorrow EP

 Last time I made a post on here, it was to talk about the single Fools Tomorrow by SickSense. Well now we finally have the long awaited second EP of the same title. It was released on June 11th, and I took the time today to give it a listen. 

I will say first off, I will always support this band in everything they do. That being said, this EP is still worth a listen. I never thought I would ever be reviewing a nu metal band, but this one always surprises me. Unfortunately, not every song on this EP was a hit for me, and that's okay. Because for those of you reading this, you may enjoy the EP as a whole. 

On a higher note, I know that everyone in the band worked very hard to produce this EP. Everything does come out of pocket. There were things I did enjoy such as the vocal work, especially on the song Erase, Rewind. I was a little skeptical at first of having a full acoustic song to end the hard hitting, heavy songs before it. But it did make for a nice final song, and shows the range this band has to offer. Hearing the vocal range that Vicky Psarakis has to offer is always welcome. She hits hard with her growls, but also has a softer tone as well. 

Overall, with there only being five songs, there is not much else to say. But I will give it 3 out of 5 stars. It was good and worth a listen. SickSense are definitely making their mark on the nu metal scene by shining a new light on it with their own twist. They are definitely a band you should keep an eye on, because I see more great things in the future.

 Hello everyone. 

I know it has been awhile since I made a post on here. Life has been crazy busy, but I would like to start posting regularly again. So I will be looking into everything music and making posts more frequently. Today I wanted to take some time to talk about an independent band that I've mentioned on here before. That band is SickSense. 

SickSense is a band that I am very close to and have been supporting since the beginning. I did review their first EP titled King Today. So check that out after this if you are interested. But on April 6, they released a new single titled Fools Tomorrow. If I had to describe this song with one word, it would be banger. Whether you are a fan of Nu Metal or not, I highly recommend checking them out. The heavy instrumental is killer, especially because they got the shred master Billy Grey of Fozzy, ton help out.

The vocal work from Vicky Psarakis  is absolutely beautiful. She helps provide the amazing and very catchy chorus, with help from the rap master himself, Robby J.

Fozzy- BoomBox

 

                   If you've been following my blog since it started, you will know how big of a Fozzy fan I am. That said, you could imagine my excitement when I found out that they would be releasing a new album. I anticipated every single that would be released in the meantime, and couldn't wait for new music after waiting five years since the release of Judas. Upon the release of the first single titled Sane, I was ready to see what Fozzy had to offer. Unfortunately what they offered was a cry for help.

               This album is not the Fozzy that I grew up with and enjoyed. Now given this is just my opinion and some may disagree or even think I'm being mean, just hear me out. Growing up, I loved and respected Fozzy for one reason. They didn't care about being a super, popular band back then. They made rock music and were doing what they loved. But after the success of Judas and how fast it hit the mainstream, it would appear that the focus is making more music to fit that mainstream build so to speak. Which would explain why each song has such a pop sound to it, instead of the heavy rock that Fozzy was once known for. 

           Listening to this album was very hard for me. I listen to music to help cope with my depression. yet nothing is more depressing then anticipating an album from a band you grew up with, only for it to be unrecognizable. If someone played a song off this album for me, without telling me it was Fozzy, I would never be able to guess. Even the vocals are bad because they are so heavily autotuned. They have a song on the album called What Hell is Like. Ya wanna know what hell is like? It's like listening to this album. 

         I will say this is definitely a step down for them and is the worst album they ever produced. Part of the problem could be their record company telling them they have to go a certain direction, but it just doesn't work for them. Many bands have tried something different throughout the years, but a lot of them stay around because they stick to their roots. In this case, Fozzy has not. I would like to rename the title of the album to The Death of Fozzy, because if they continue in this direction, they will never be truly the same again.

     My overall rating is a 3/10. I will say there was one song I enjoyed and I thought would save the album. Purifier has such a nice, heavy start and is a joy to listen to. If the whole album had been like that song, it could've saved them. But unfortunately, that is not the case.   

SickSense- Kings Today

 

Hello everyone. I know it has been awhile but I hope you are all doing well. I took a bit of a hiatus to work on some other projects, along with just working on self care and inner healing. But today I am back and I'm so excited to share this post with you all today. A new band has emerged, featuring Robby J and Vicky Psarakis, who I have mentioned on here before. Their new band is called SickSense.

      Their EP titled "Kings Today" was just released and I was originally going to review it when I got my preordered copy, but some things came up. So I will be sharing my thoughts and review today. The Ep consists of five songs and although it may not seem like much, trust me, they are all so impactful. Each one is heavy and melodic, it has you begging for more, and I can't wait to see what this band has instore for the future. 

       One thing I've always loved about music, are the messages an artist can give through lyrics. Those lyrics can make such an emotional impact that will stay with you forever. 'Forgotten Days' is a song on this EP that does just that. It's about the struggle one may have with theirself, usually when depressed, and how you can eventually overcome that obstacle. But every song has caught my attention with a beautiful heavy intro, followed by the angelic vocals of Vicky, aka Killer V, mixed with the rapping talents of Robby J, aka Rob the Ripper. 

      Along with banging my head, I'm also floating along with the melody. It's a wonderful fusion created perfectly with the vocals and backed up well with the banging instrumental. You can really feel all the joy, effort, and energy that everyone put into this EP. So if you're interested, go grab yourself a copy and maybe even some merch. These guys are working really hard and appreciate any support. So go check them out if you're interested.

Johnnie Guilbert "The Last Thing I want is Help" Review

 

Hello everyone. 

I know it's been a bit, but I am back with a post. Been dealing with personal issues, but I'm feeling better and am ready to get back into putting out more content for you all to enjoy. So today I want to share my thoughts on this album that just dropped yesterday. It's called "The Last Thing I want is Help", by Johnnie Guilbert. You may remember him from the last post I did. If you haven't yet, feel free to read it after you finish this post.

So he released his knew album and it is amazing. It really brought me comfort in the sense that he is willing to share his personal struggles, to remind us that we are never alone. Which brings me at peace, and it means a lot when musicians do this. The album brings up the struggles of depression, anxiety and even heartbreak/loss. The thoughts of just wanting to disappear so as to be at peace, which I think most of us can relate to. 

I feel as though each song is a little glimpse as to how he feels and it's expressed with well thought out lyrics and catchy instrumental. Thankfully this is only the start as he revealed that he will be releasing more at a faster pace. Which makes me happy cause he's not only following his dream, but also doing something creative such as writing music, is a great way to release our feelings and put a somewhat positive twist onto them. 

I just overall really enjoyed this album because I related so much to it. Some songs I really enjoyed were 'Anxiety', 'Welcome to hell', and 'Lost my Sanity." I highly recommend giving it a listen and maybe sharing with others, cause it really helps raise awareness towards mental illness. Which I think is so important, especially during the pandemic where we all feel trapped in our minds, alone and scared. This album is a nice little escape from that pain. So please go give it a listen.

Band Recommendation- Johnnie Guilbert and Til death do we part

 

     Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. I'm trying to get back into a good schedule for posts. Been a little hectic during the week, so I'm going to shoot for weekends. 

  Anyway, today I wanted to talk about a musician I've recently discovered. His name is Johnnie Guilbert. He does solo music and also has a band called 'Til death do we part'. Johnnie started off his career as a YouTuber, at the age of 16, and became known for talking about his history with mental health, mostly depression. It really connected with people, and from then on he formed a fan base. In his videos he also discussed his love for music, how it helped him cope, and how he wanted to do it. 

 

All that struggle and hardship has led him to do what he loves, which is write and release music. I thought this would be an appropriate time to share what he does, cause his music hits deep and really helps to cope with what we're dealing with. Everyone is feeling down right now, due to the world, but Johnnie wants us to know we are not alone. He still struggles as well, but thankfully music helps us stay connected and fight everything together.

He mentioned he is working on an album and will release it towards the end of this year, and I'm very excited. As far as music to check out, my two fave songs from his solo work are 'Afraid' and 'Welcome to hell'. 'Afraid' makes me think about how scary we may feel to others, especially when depressed. He mentions not being able to escape a curse which I take as suicidal thoughts, but all he wants is for someone to love him. 'Welcome to hell' is about his struggle with religion. He grew up with it but had many doubts about if god was even real.

'Til death do we part' is harder to find out about, because all that comes up is the expression "till death do us part". They don't have very many songs but I recommend 'She makes sense' and 'Regret me not'.

I hope you guys check him out. He's a really genuine guy making music and raising awareness towards mental illness which I think is just super important. Thank you for reading this post. Repentance 'God For A Day'

 

  Hello everyone. It's been awhile but I've been waiting for something really cool to talk about, and that moment has happened. On Sept 25th, Repentance unleashed their debut album onto the world. 'God For A Day' is out now. You can stream it everywhere and also purchase a physical copy if you're interested. They also have some merch if you need another cool shirt for your collection.

Now onto the review. I had the honor of getting early access to this album but didn't wanna share my thoughts till everyone could go check it out for themselves. First off, from start to finish, this album is a head banging masterpiece. This is what I expect from a band that labels themselves as a heavy metal band. Repentance did not hold back on the heavy goodness, from the guitar work and drums, to the very heavy and very talented vocals of Robby J. If you're a regular here, you'll recognize his name. I did a couple interviews with him that you can check out after you read this, if you so choose. 

I honestly did not want this album to end. From 'Only the damned die young' to 'Deliverance' felt like an instant. I got so wrapped up in how it all flowed together that before I knew it, it was over and I was still craving for more. It's hard to pick a favorite song on this album, cause they are such great tracks. I really like "Only the damned die young', 'Deliverance', and 'God for a day', to name a few. If you're looking for some good kick ass music either for working out, or just to enjoy, I highly recommend checking this out. They worked so hard to release this album, and I say it paid off nicely. 

This for me is a contender for album of the year, but it isn't over yet. If not the album of the year, it's definitely a highlight. I looked forward to this for so long and was not disappointed. Like I mentioned, you can go stream 'God For A Day' everywhere and physical copies are available for purchase via intercept music. Also highly recommend checking out their tees as well. Not only helps support them, but you also have a cool shirt to make your friends jealous.

Band Recommendation- Attn Deficit Squirrel

    Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well as we continue to stay strong and get through this crazy time. If you're like me and are taking this time to expand on your music a bit, then I have an awesome recommendation for you. There's a new upcoming band from Cincinnati, Ohio, and they're called Attn Deficit Squirrel. They have a self titled EP coming out today, and I highly recommend checking it out after reading this review.
   

      I am a huge fan of what they've done so far. The EP consists of four amazing songs that I think will help you stay in a good mood during this depressing time. Their music is pop/punk and has the sound of great classic pop/punk bands such as Green Day, Jimmy eats world, etc.
   I'm going to share my review of each song. They are my first impressions of the vibe from each song along with my thoughts on the instrumental, vocals, and lyrics. Hope you enjoy.


Fine by me- So right off the bat, this song gives me some 90's Green Day vibes. It's got a nice, old school punk vibe. I love the upbeat instrumental, and the vocals are great.

Inside- I love how this song is upbeat while also having a nice gentle tone to it as well. It's a nice blend that is very enjoyable. Still get the old school punk vibes, which is a nice change of pace. I don't see that much in newer bands.

Slowing down- Love the little techy intro, thought it was a nice introduction. Still keeps the punk vibe, while also being catchy and pleasant. I really love the lyrics as well. I feel that they are relatable, and just bring an overall great message,

Time is on my side- This is my favorite. I love the attention to the guitar, especially in the intro. It has a nice, gentle intro. Not quite as punky as the others, but it's still upbeat enough to fit along with the others and is still a great listen.

I really hope you all give these guys a try. Their front man Scottie told me it was all DIY which I find very impressive. As I mentioned, their self titled EP is out today. Music can save your life...LITERALLY

            Hey guys. I hope you all are staying safe during this pandemic. Just remember to stay healthy, wash your hands, and stay inside. Now I know being in quarantine is lonely and depressing, I've found that for me, music is a great way to cope, and I feel the majority of you all can relate to that. If not, then I hope today's post will help you see the benefits of music relating to your health, and how you can incorporate it into your routine while at home.
    So today, I'm gonna share some facts and tips on how music can help you mentally, and how you can work it into your day. Now before I start, I read two articles to help me gather some facts, and I will link those at the end of this post. The tips come from me personally, on how I fit music into my routine and how you can to. So let's get started.

Facts:
Now most of the facts I found related to music therapy, which is basically a practice some therapists use in which they do exercises with their patients on creating music and using it to express their feelings. Like songwriting can help one to express feelings they may never have before, or maybe didn't know how to properly express them.
The first article I read had a few good things to say about it: "Music therapy is classified as a form of expressive therapy that works to improve physical and mental health through expression of emotions. It consists of playing music, singing, or listening. It can help you deal with past trauma, improve social skills, and give you more confidence."

Now the second article I read had quite a bit about how music helps you and how you can incorporate it. The two facts I enjoyed were how having music in the background can help boost mental performance, I know for me, when I'm working on an outline for a post and doing some research, like I did today, listening to music can really help me stay focused. So if you're doing work from home, or are a student doing online classes, maybe putting some soft music in the background can help you.
But it could be used for other things such as cooking and doing chores.
   The other fact I enjoyed was how it can help reduce and manage stress. One thing I like to do is take time out of my day to just pop in a CD I love, and relax. Let it take me away to a world full of peace, and maybe even good memories associated with those songs. Doing so has helped me feel less stress, and I highly recommend doing so if you haven't already.

I really hope this post helps you out in managing your stress and sadness during this difficult time. Just remember that it won't last forever, and we will all get through this. My take on new bands

        Hello everyone. I know I've been on a bit of a hiatus, but that's because I needed to take a break to try to find good topics to write about. One thing that has come up recently is people have asked me my opinion on new bands. The reason being because I'm an old school rock and metal fan, so most people are curious as to what I think about upcoming bands or even bands that may have been around a few years, but would be considered new to me. So today I'm just gonna talk about my opinion on new bands.
       

        Now first off, please be aware that I am in no way talking bad about newer bands. Every band works hard and does their best, and may have a big fan base. This is just how I feel about them. I'm not gonna rant and say they suck and you're a loser for listening to them. But rather share how and why i feel a certain way.
    So I get a ton of recommendations of bands to listen to. Either bands that are considered new to me, or upcoming bands trying to build a fan base. I will pick one song from each band and listen for about a minute. That usually is enough to give me some lyrics and the chorus. I'll usually listen to a few bands at a time, but I tend to notice something strange. To me, they all sound the same. Like, they're all different bands, with different styles and different singers, but their songs sound the same.
      Like whenever I listen to the radio, let's say Sirius Octane as an example, they'll play a song and I'm like okay cool. Then they'll play the next song, and honestly, if they didn't mention it was by a different artist, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. This is more with the instrumental stuff and less of the singing. I'm not gonna say a rap song sounds like a normal singing song. But this includes guitar work, and drums as well.
      I'm not saying it's a problem, I just find it strange. I know it takes a band awhile to find their sound and what they want to produce, it's all a big journey. It's just hard to differentiate between bands sometimes as a result. But there have been a few times where I'll find an upcoming band that has a totally different sound from most, which can be refreshing.

    But like I said before I started, I'm not hating on anyone or anything. I just wanted to share my opinion on this subject. I would also love to hear your take on it. Shaun Glass Interview

    Hello everyone. Hope you all are doing well. Sorry for lack of posts, being feeling unwell. But I think this post will make up for it. I had the pleasure of chatting with Shaun Glass of the upcoming band Repentance. Was so cool getting to talk to him. Hope you all enjoy.


So first off, i wanted to ask what your upbringing in music was? Did you listen to a certain genre or did you check out a bit of everything?

"I grew up on Rock first bands like KISS were my first real love and introduction to hard music then I went full bore into REAL Heavy Metal like Judas Priest,UFO,Scorpions,Motörhead then as those bands began to get soft with the rise of hair metal and I was much more into newer acts like Venom,Mercyful Fate,Anvil, & Metallica..
Obviously I liked other genres then and still do  love bands like the Cure,Depeche Mode,Mission uk,Sisters Of Mercy."


Did any of those bands kind of influence your style of how you play, and did anyone inspire you?

"Absolutely everyone of them played a role in shaping my style sound and visions.

My Father inspired me because he believed in me and let me chase my crazy dream to be a musician...College really doesn’t teach you that ha!"

That's awesome! 

So some people reading this may not know about the band you're in, Repentance. Can you give a little background about how you guys got together and what your style is?

"Well I‘be been in a few bands some may have heard of Soil,Dirge Within probably the two most known bands I formed and played in... Repentance came together a year ago with my desire to just write something really Heavy and not care about trends etc.

Our first gig was opening for Trivium in Illinois and we released some demos to n YouTube and a few singles on all the typical digital outlets.We are currently recording a full album for 2020!!!"

I've heard the singles you guys have released and i am so excited for this album. I wish you guys all the best.

As we wrap up a here, i have a couple more questions. Do you have any advice for those who may have the same dream you did and aren't sure how to get started?

"Thanks glad they impressed you. My advice is work hard and write songs as that’s the key.GOOD stuff shines and Hard Work is the key and whenever you face a downer move on and kill it!"

Rock bands don't believe in farewell tours

        It seems the current trend these days are "farewell tours". I put it in quotation marks because they usually last for a number of years, before the band reunites for another one of these said tours. This tends to result in large amounts of money, causing the bands to do whatever it takes to make the tour happen.
    Now I'm sure you've all heard that Motley Crue is reuniting next year to perform with Poison and Def Leppard. Two things: One, I find it interesting that Motley Crue is coming back. In a 2014 interview, bassist Nikki Sixx said, "There is no amount of money that would even make me do it again because I have such pride in how we're ending it". So my question is, just how much are they getting paid for this? From what I've heard, it's a couple dates for a festival. That's gotta be one expensive gig.
    Second, are we not gonna address that AC/DC is rumored to be the fourth band in the line up? With the 'Back in Black' lineup nonetheless. I've read that Brian Johnson has high demands in his contract, and rightfully so, but the possibility itself is huge. Not much else to say on that topic. Guess we'll wait and see what happens.


    I will keep you all updated more on this as it's released. Expect more posts this week, got some interesting topics I'm excited to share.

Orphans by The Agonist

   It's been a couple weeks since it's new release but there's still quite a bit of buzz around the release of their new album "Orphans" by The Agonist, and rightfully so. After reading some other reviews and comments from the metal community, I can't help but agree that this may be their best album to date. It's one of those albums where you think you may know your favorite song, and then the next one plays so you begin to second guess yourself. Every song is a heavy banger.
    Vicky Psarakis has the voice of an angel with an almost demonic twist. With a mix of melodic and metal growling, she brings beautiful singing and headbanging in perfect harmony. It's a combo that, if executed properly, can work well and go hand in hand. Which is exactly what Vicky brings to the table, from the first song "Vertigo", to the last song "Burn it Down". It's an album that takes you on a journey all the way through. So sit back, crank it up, and enjoy. It's definitely a 10/10.
    I did see one person comment something that I thought was great. Can't remember it exactly so I'll paraphrase, but he basically said that "Orphans" has now been adopted by the metal community, and I can't help but agree. Great job to all the amazing people in The Agonist and also all the producers who helped this make this enjoyable album.

Is old school thrash dead?

Hey guys. So today I’m gonna discuss if old school thrash is dead. Now, old school thrash was defined in the mid to late 80’s and carried out through the 90’s. Bands like Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, and more, were taking the lead in bringing to the people thrash metal. Now, most of those bands are still around today, but does that mean old school thrash is still alive? I would say yes and no. I say that it’s still alive in the sense that most of these bands are still around and are also still doing great. But at the same time I say thrash is dead because some of these bands like Metallica, have changed their style of music. Metallica for example, sounds more hard rock then metal. Whereas other bands like Megadeth, have changed their style in the past, but still hold true to the genre they have helped developed.

They may have tried something new just to shake things up, but are still the great metal bands they always were. Like Megadeth had albums such as “Endgame” and “Super Collider”, which was a little softer than your typical Megadeth album. But still hold true to their thrash genes which is shown in their latest album “Dystopia”.

So in all, I would say the old school thrash isn’t completely dead. Now if bands like Megadeth and Slayer didn’t exist, I think it would be dead completely. But because these bands are still around and are holding true to their genre, it’s helping keep thrash alive. Plus, there are bands out there that have been inspired but these old school thrash bands, and are trying to continue the thrash tradition. I will do a post next week on these bands because they are pretty good. But for now, I hope you enjoyed my thoughts on this topic.

I’m back/Band recommendation

Hey guys. I know it’s been awhile since i’ve done a blog post, and I do apologize. But I had been dealing with personal issues that were slowing me down. I’m doing better though, so i’m bringing back my blog. Should have a post out weekly for you all to enjoy. So without further ado, here is my post for today.

I’m starting off my comeback with a band recommendation. The band is called Repentence. They are a metal band from Chicago, formed by Stuck Mojo frontman Robby J Fonts. Now they’re fairly new and only have two songs released so far. But they are very good. Their two songs Collide and Born to Choose will have you head banging and smashing that replay button. In the future, i’m hoping to interview all the guys in Repentence. If not, then i’ll try to interview Robby J just to get some insight on what Repentence has planned. Fozzy "Judas" album review

 Hey guys. So I just listened to Fozzy's new album "Judas" which was released today, and I am blown away. This album is just outstanding. So I wanted to share a couple things about it. But you should definitely check it out when you're done reading this.

So there were a couple songs that stood out to me because they had a different style to them then what I'm used to when it comes to Fozzy. They definitely experimented with this album, but it still works great. Now taking that into consideration, technically all of the songs stand out. But the ones that stood out to me were Weight of my World, Three Days in Jail, and Elevator.

But listening to this album reminded me of Fozzy's last two albums. It has the dark lyrics of "Sin and bones" mixed with the sort of techno/rock instrumental from "Do You Wanna Start A War". But then they sorted of added a little twist. For example, in Three Days in Jail, they had some rapping mixed in. Was not expecting that, along with Rich's growling. Which was beautiful. But I also noticed they have a bit of a biblical theme going on like they did back in 2010 with "Chasing the Grail". So "Judas" is new but also sort of familiar in a way with these little throwbacks.

But in all, it's a great album with some banging tunes for sure. They are just really catchy and were written well. Fozzy has really outdone themselves with "Judas".
So I say if you haven't picked up this album yet, then go check it out. If you're a Fozzy fan, you're gonna love it. If you're not a Fozzy fan, then I think this album would be a great start. It's already number one on the Itunes metal charts in five countries on its release day, which is outstanding. This is definitely the breakthrough album Fozzy fans have been waiting for.

Band Recommendation: Act Of Defiance

 Hey guys. So my band recommendation today is this band called Act Of Defiance. The band was formed by Ex-Megadeth members Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover. But I must say, this band is really impressive. Their music is a little different from your typical metal bands. Their style is heavy, and honestly that's the only way I can really describe it. If you check out their music, then you might have a better way of describing it. If so then let me know in the comments.

But anyway, If you're into metal and want something a little new, then I definitely recommend this band. Their debut album Birth and the Burial is a mix of thrash metal, with hints of melody here and there. I definitely recommend checking it out, and hopefully it will make you want more because they will be releasing a new album called Old Scars, New Wounds. It comes out September 29th. I got early access to it and it is amazing. I should have an album review up in the next day or so. So keep an eye out for that.

4 years of being a Jerichoholic

   Hey guys. This post is for you wrestling fans out there. I want to share my 4 year anniversary of being a Chris Jericho fan by sharing how much he means to me.

Chris Jericho has shown me that anything is possible. That you can accomplish anything if you put hard work into it, and believe in yourself. He wanted to be a wrestler and a musician. People told him he was too short to be a wrestler, and couldn't be a wrestler and a musician. He didn't listen to them. Instead, he focused on his dream. He never once gave up. It's this reason that Jericho motivates me.
Whenever I think I can't do something, I think about what all Jericho has accomplished.

It was in 2013 that I started to become a fan. Something about him just clicked with me. I enjoyed him as a wrestler, a musician, and even as a podcaster. I also really enjoy his books. To me, he is MR. Entertainment. To me, there isn't one thing he can't do. He really is the G.O.A.T

I will never stop supporting Jericho and all the stuff he does. The day I stop supporting him is the day I die. He means the world to me, and I hope I get to tell him that one day.

Sean Delson Interview

Hey guys.
So I had the pleasure of interviewing Ex Fozzy and Stuck Mojo bassist Sean B. Delson. Enjoy.


I first wanted to ask how you got into Fozzy and Stuck Mojo? And I also want to know what your experience with them was like.

"Thanks for taking the time and seeking me out to do this interview. The very short answer is..."Richard Park Ward". I've known him (if memory serves) since either the late 80's or early 90's? We use to work a day job together, and our 2 bands played a lot of the same venues. Years went by and Rich approached me at a Music Conference to play on his solo record. "My Kung Fu is Good". It is a GREAT RECORD!!! I hope that it will be re-released on a proper label and get the credit it deserves."

As you mentioned, you worked on "My Kung Fu is Good" with Rich Ward. Did you enjoy it?

"Of course I very much enjoyed the process. It was amazing working with Rich again and producer Rick Beato on some of those tracks. Once I played on that record, Fozzy and Mojo fell into place."

When did you start Agent Cooper?

"Agent Cooper was an offshoot of our old band, "Salem Ash", which was born in HollyWood, CA(I think) around 1987. Our singer, Doug Busbee formed Agent Cooper years after Salem Ash had run its course after we all moved to Atlanta. Sometime in the mid 90's I think."

Are you enjoying your time with the band?

"I have actually been enjoying a bit of the quiet life after nearly a decade of non stop touring!! I've been taking some time to travel a bit more and go back to those distant lands that I discovered whilst touring. The time has really given me inspiration for my love of music and new ideas are flowing. It's a great feeling that's hard to explain."

Are you currently working on anything?

"Yes. Agent Cooper is trying to tidy up and finish 3 tunes. In fact, Doug is coming up here later today and I hope to get a fair amount of work done (in between a few adult beverages!). I think the last album I played on what just after we finished a 6 week European tour with Tony MacAlpine. He asked me to play on his record. How could I say no?"

What can we expect from Agent Cooper in the future?

"If I had my way...(and I will be talking about this with Doug later on today) I'd like to go back and work with a producer on our body of work, and perhaps get some fresh mixes and production ideas. I'd really like to do that."

I would also like to know what it was like to be in Fozzy and Stuck Mojo, and also just wroking with Rich Ward in general. 

It’s funny that most people use that phrase “working with…” when it comes to music. I will tell you what it felt like “playing with Rich”, because it was much more play than work! Now because I had known Rich for so long before we teamed up, it was like seeing an old friend. Our bands had crossed paths many times before. We even worked an actual day job together way back when… So the history has some real history.

There used to be this big music showcase event in Atlanta called “The Atlantis Music Conference” that was put on by Mark Willis. Its aim was to educate new artists about the industry through information sessions, give them exposure through talent showcases, and connect them with industry professionals through networking events. It ran from around 1998 – 2008. (Mark manages Fozzy, Rich, and Mojo to this day) I guess it must have been around 2003 when Rich was ready to really push his solo record. If memory serves, and as you know, it was going to be a bit of a departure from the “Heavy Metal” that he was known for. At that time, Mark had landed us (Agent Cooper) a good slot at the conference. That night, Rich came out to check us out. Frank Fontsere on Drums, Eric Frampton on Keys, Doug singing, and me, of course…. On bass. After the show Rich walked up and explained his idea for the record and asked if I would be interested in playing on it. I didn’t hesitate for a second to say, “Of course!” Well…. It seems that asking me to play on the solo record more or less “ruffled the feathers” of Fozzy’s then bassist. He upped and quit! So I got another call from Rich saying, “We (Fozzy) have a gig in NY some 48 hours from now. Can you do it?? “Uhhhhh…. YES! Send me the set list ASAP!” The rest, as they say… is History. That gig in NY, lead to the permanent position in Fozzy. Then came “All that Remains”, that lead to the Stuck Mojo revival. And that lead to more tours and more records. Insert about another 10 years of that. I swear it was non stop! It was just natural. We were family. Almost all the members that I mentioned at the Agent Cooper gig above also played on those records. It’s a big family down south and it we were very much interwoven.

Pretty much from moment I played with Rich on The Duke Project, that was it for all the bands. The core band remained the same, and only the singer changed. So it became a “cycle” if you will. We would record a Fozzy album, then a Mojo album. Many times we would also “stack” the tours. For example: Fozzy would do a 3 week run across the UK and then into some other part of Europe. Let’s say the tour ended in Paris. CJ would fly home after the gig to fulfill his WWE obligations, while Lloyd “Lord” [Nelson] would have been flown over to Paris to see the gig, rest, and then a Stuck Mojo tour would begin. It must be said that making all this work out smoothly is largely due to Mark Willis. He’s the man behind the curtain that manages EVERYTHING for the 3 bands. He even helps Agent Cooper, so hats off to Mark. As for my favorite band…that’s very tricky. Talk about 4 totally different bands. From a sheer musical standpoint, I would have to say Agent Cooper and The Duke Project. I can expand on that if you wish. Fozzy was so much FUN! Of course having a world famous superstar celebrity as your lead singer really opened a lot of doors that afforded us many great opportunities that we may not have otherwise been offered. I’m sure you can see that. MOJO was a machine. Plain and simple. The vibe was very different in that band, and the crowds that it drew. Intensity! So they each have their place, you see?

Because you have listened to “My Kung Fu is Good”, you will know that it was a serious departure from Stuck Mojo and Fozzy for Rich. It was his solo record and these songs were so much “from the heart”. The songs came from a “different” place. Not the angry riffs everybody was used to. There is so much musicality on the record and I enjoyed having the freedom to write and create my bass lines on those songs. Even pulling out some fretless bass, which you don’t really get to do that much in metal! Working with the world famous Rick Beato was great as well. He also did “All that Remains” as a result. There’s nothing wrong with riffing, mind you, but this record was nothing like Rich had ever done and I was honored being given the task to play bass on it. Two old friends…. Just doing what we do. A few months ago he called me and asked if I’d like to play a charity concert down in Atlanta. “Of course”…. Always my standard answer. So we played a Taylor Swift song for a children’s charity. Very very cool."

Alice Cooper "Paranormal" Album Review

Alice Cooper is back with his newest album "Paranormal". This album is a masterpiece. I hope you guys check it out if you haven't. I hope this review helps you decide if it's worth checking out, in case you were on the fence about it. 

Paranormal- I love how this is the opening track. It's got this creepy vibe to it. Like I can almost imagine  a scene from a horror movie in my mind, as I listen to the song. It's just great.  

Fireball is definitely the song that sticks out on this album. The reason I say this is because it's different from most Alice Cooper songs. It's got a different vibe, but it's really catchy. Although It's different from most of Alice's songs, it still sounds like a song he would do. It's different but still works, if that makes sense. 

Paranoiac personality was the first single to be released. I automatically fell in love with it and couldn't wait for the rest of the album. After hearing it, I was like: "Yes. Alice Cooper is back." 

I could go on and on about this album. It's definitely a 10/10. The album is a little different from Alice's other albums, yet it doesn't sound totally different to where you're questioning if it really is an Alice Cooper album. 

The second CD with the original members of the band was really good. It was nice to hear them reunited even though it was only for 2 new songs. Then the live songs were also great. All together, definitely worth the purchase. 

So I hope you guys enjoyed this review. The album is definitely worth checking out. So if you haven't listened to it, go check it out. You won't be disappointed.
